Trip Questions

Where will we be sleeping?

No accommodations needed on this trip.

How do I get there?

You will follow the Alaska Highway west towards Haines Junction. The trip is about 45 minutes outside of Whitehorse, Yukon. You will turn right near the HWY marker km 1502. It can be hard to see, so keep your eyes peeled after you go past the Mendenhall subdivision.

What kind of food will we be eating?

We will be eating traditional boreal cuisine for the most part, using locally sourced meat and veggies. We can accommodate any taste or restrictions. Just because we are out on the trail doesn’t mean we have to eat like it.

What are the daily activities?

Daily activities include a guided tour of the trails in and around Nomad Ranch, offering a chance to explore the natural landscape. In the evening, gather around a bonfire to warm up while enjoying hot chocolate or forest-sourced tea. For added relaxation or convenience, participants may choose to include a lunch option or a yoga session to enhance the day’s experience.

What is the washroom situation?

At the Nomad Ranch, an outhouse is available for use. When out on the trail, there are no facilities, so plan accordingly.

What should I bring? In the wintertime, dressing appropriately for the weather is essential to stay comfortable and safe. Layering is key: start with a moisture-wicking base layer to keep sweat off your skin, add an insulating middle layer to retain warmth, and finish with a waterproof and windproof outer layer to protect against the elements. Don't forget insulated gloves, a warm hat, and proper footwear with good traction. Always check the weather forecast before heading out and be prepared for sudden changes in temperature by carrying extra layers or emergency gear. Being well-prepared ensures you can enjoy your winter outdoor activities without discomfort or risk.
