Trip Questions

What if I have never skied before?

This is a beginner-friendly trip, and you will be given instructions on how to properly ski or use snowshoes. Keep in mind, some skiing or snowshoeing experience is helpful.

Where do we leave from?

We leave from the Northern Nomad Ranch, about 45 minutes from town. The ranch serves as the perfect starting point for adventures into the rugged wilderness, offering easy access while maintaining a sense of seclusion. From here, trails wind through dense forests and open meadows, setting the stage for an unforgettable outdoor experience. Whether you’re on horseback, hiking, or driving, the journey from the ranch is a peaceful transition from modern life to the serenity of nature.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

The option of staying in an aurora sleeping capsule is available, or if you would like to try a wall tent for a real rugged winter experience. Both accommodations offer unique ways to immerse yourself in the winter wilderness. The aurora sleeping capsule provides a cozy and modern shelter with panoramic views perfect for watching the northern lights. In contrast, the wall tent offers a more traditional and adventurous experience, exposing you to the elements while still providing protection and warmth. Choose the option that best suits your comfort level and desire for adventure.

Can I drink the water?

Your guides will provide filtered water. It is also recommended to bring along your water bottle.

What about bears/wildlife?

You may be lucky enough to pass some wildlife as you drive to the location, but encounters are generally brief and non-threatening. Travelling in a group significantly reduces any risk, providing safety in numbers. To avoid attracting animals, all food items will be stored securely in a separate space away from the sleeping and gathering areas. This precaution helps ensure both your safety and the well-being of the local wildlife.

Do we need to worry about food or cooking?

No, your certified river guides will take care of it!

How far are we skiing/snowshoeing?

An average of 5–9 km return trip a day provides a balanced pace for exploring while ensuring ample time for relaxation activities such as yoga and downtime. This distance is manageable for most fitness levels, allowing participants to enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed. Additionally, offering after-dinner trips can add a flexible and adventurous element to the experience, catering to those who want to extend their outdoor time or explore different lighting and ambiance. This schedule supports both active engagement and restful breaks, creating a well-rounded outdoor itinerary..
